When water flows, connections grow — and in Dagupan City, those connections aren’t just about pipelines. The Dagupan City Water District (DCWD) and the Commission on Audit (COA) traded ledgers and logbooks for sneakers and sports gear in the much-awaited Annual Sports Festival, a vibrant tradition that turns colleagues into teammates.
Under the spirited leadership of GM Gretchen G. Buena of DCWD and Supervising Auditor Cristina M. Lopez of COA, the day became a lively playground of skill, laughter, and good-natured competition. With the steadfast support of the DCWD Board of Directors, headed by Chairperson Arlene Sanchez, the event was more than just a yearly fixture — it was proof that government service also comes with a generous serving of teamwork, wellness, and fun.
The courts, tables, and lanes were alive with energy as players showed their flair in basketball, volleyball, table tennis, darts, scrabble, and badminton. Points were scored, shuttles smashed, tiles carefully placed, and darts thrown with precision — but the real victory was the shared joy of breaking a sweat for something other than deadlines.
What began as a health and camaraderie initiative has grown into a tradition that bonds agencies, encourages sportsmanship, and reminds everyone that public servants aren’t just dedicated workers — they can also be fierce athletes, clever wordsmiths, and champions of fair play.
