Dagupan City Water District (DCWD) and Pamana Water Corporation (PAMANA) reaffirmed their commitment to providing safe and reliable water supply as they convened on February 26, 2025, to discuss the implementation of the approved Water Safety Plan (WSP) and upcoming projects for the year.
The WSP, a crucial component of the Joint Venture Agreement (JVA), follows the Department of Health (DOH) and Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) guidelines. Approved by the DOH on May 24, 2024, and valid until May 23, 2027, the plan adopts the World Health Organization’s (WHO) 11-step approach to ensure water safety from source to household tap.
The meeting, led by DCWD General Manager and WSP Team Leader Gretchen G. Buena, alongside PAMANA Branch Manager and WSP Assistant Team Leader Glenn I. Gomez, gathered key members from both parties. Discussions focused on assessing the effectiveness of control measures already implemented by PAMANA, with DCWD scheduled to conduct inspections this month to validate these measures and identify potential risks for continuous improvement.
Beyond ensuring water quality, the WSP outlines policies to sustain service reliability during adverse conditions and provides a structured response plan for emergency situations. In alignment with their commitment to service excellence, DCWD and PAMANA will continue working closely with the Local Government Unit of Dagupan City, DOH, DPWH, and LWUA to enhance water distribution and safety standards for the city’s residents.
This proactive collaboration underscores the shared goal of safeguarding public health and maintaining a resilient and high-quality water supply system for Dagupan City.
